***** DAY TRIP TO YORK *****

If you are a fan of history - especially medieval history - then this is the perfect tour for you.

YORK is a walled historic town that has been in existence for more than 2,000 years. From the moment you drive into its city centre, you are hit with its stunning antique architecture and bustling atmosphere that make you feel like you have been transported back in time but with modern gadgets and people.

YORK MINSTER

Our tour starts at the stunning York Minster church. It is one of the biggest of its kind in Northern Europe and it is simply stunning. There are 2 parts to the church; the Minster - which is the central edifice in which the church service is held. It is replete with stained glass and artefacts of the history of York Minster.

The second part of the church is the Tower. It is the single highest point in the whole of York, built by King Henry IV and large enough too fit the leaning Tower of Pisa inside.

Included in the price of this trip is also access to the Tower for which you get to climb 275 steps to it. From the Tower, you will get to see the whole of York and all its spectacular views.

CLIFFORD TOWER

After the Cathedral, we head over to another landmark of York city - the Clifford Tower. It was used as a vantage point by the castle guards to see what enemies were attacking the castle so they could sound their alarm and prepare for war.

We will scale the mound surrounding the tower - a selfie taker's dream! Getting a tour of the tower is not free so we had to make a decision of which tower to tour; the one at York Minster or Clifford Tower and because of the views and the history of York Minster, we opted to tour that one instead. If you would like to tour Clifford Tower after scaling the mound, you can pay the extra £4.50 to do so. You will also get enough free time after our official tour.

YORK MUSEUM GARDENS + CASTLE

The tour ends taking in the beautiful and serene views and atmosphere of the Museum Gardens, which surround the Castle.

The gardens are set in the medevial ruins of St Mary's Abbey and are famous for their fantastic collection of trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs.

As already mentioned above, you will get a few hours of free time to roam around the city on your own during which you can take in more sites such as the famous Shambles cobbled streets with its markets and shops.

It is a small but stunning city and a trip you would definitely not want to miss.
