Australian punk rock band The Chats are pleased to announce a headline Belfast show at The Limelight 2 on Tuesday 20th August 2019. The release comes ahead of their international festival appearances at both The Great Escape and Reading Leeds Festival. The 19-year-olds, who rose to prominence with their 2017 anthem, Smoko are coming to Ireland in August.

Smoko is sitting at 6.3 million YouTube streams, but ‘Pub Feed’ is on its way to catching up at almost 400,000 views in just over a week

The band started in 2016, when trio Josh Price, Eamon Sandwith and Matt Boggis got bored and decided to form a band in their mate’s shed. After a couple of lazy jams, they quickly came up with a set of punk pub anthems for the ages – Smoko came first.

They were quickly touring with the Cosmic Psychos, playing over 40 dates with their drunken uncles and the godfathers of grunge. Not long after, Josh Homme personally invited them to open for Queens of the Stone Age after Dave Grohl sent him the ‘Smoko’ video. Iggy Pop is a big fan, too.

Late last year The Chats announced their debut tour of the UK and, much to the band’s shock, sold out in a day.
