Gallery Sounds

Gallery time once again and with the summer still ringing in our ears we move towards the last quarter of the year for Gallery Sounds; and our continuation of bringing you the groove by way of good music and DJ's.

 Our distinguished upstairs guest is Matt RiVEM, one half of the talented Rhythm Plate, who surfaced 18 years ago with a fresh sound that has seen them go on to do various remixes for the likes of Hot Toddy (Crazy P) Art Of Tones, Demarkus Lewis and Jacob London and beyond. Matt has nurtured his sound and is now producing his own solo efforts under 'Goshawk' with releases on his own 'Pressed For Time' with other releases picked up by Joshua Iz, Kolour LTD, Plastik People, Kiko Navarro and the ever consistent Paper Recordings. Expect the deepest of grooves, with crisp production values and a real boogie affair.

Downstairs: Rick Donohue is our guest of equal distinction, hailing from that other wondrous musical city Manchester, Rick settled in Nottingham in the 90s, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge which served him well working in local record shops Funky Monkey and Selectadisc, making life easier for old and fresh ears alike with his laid back and helpful attitude for music.

Holding down residencies at Saltwater and The Malt Cross, it's in his guise as a DJ that has elevated Rick to legend status, as he skilfully navigates across the musical dance board. Soul, Jazz Funk, Funk, Disco, House and all the beauty in between has seen Rick sling tunes alongside the likes of Giles Peterson, Mark Rae, Bugz In The Attic and Shaanti Soundsystem, Paul Wain and Dave Smith.

Jodie P (YATR + Gallery Sounds + TheBIGfaces) and Coxie (MHYH + Let There Be House+TheBIgfaces) are the upstairs residents, who have cultivated a sound of their own which has enabled them to play alongside the best of them.

Osborne Daniel (Gallery Sounds + Diy) is on downstairs duty, maintaining the vibe.
