A Parent’s Guide to the Medical Treatment of ADHD when there is also Autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
A Talk by Dr Edward Aull
I am a behavioural paediatrician in Carmel Indiana, which is a suburb of Indianapolis. I did my medical school at the Indiana University Medical School, and my residency in Paediatrics at Riley Children’s Hospital which is part of the University complex of hospitals and at the time was the only children’s hospital in Indiana. The head of the hospital and my mentor was Dr. Morris Green who was a pioneer in behavioural paediatrics and a co-author of one of the first text books on behavioural paediatrics.
I began treating ADHD in the early seventies and began recognizing and treating autism spectrum disorders in the eighties. In 1996, I quit doing any general paediatrics and started a practice limited to the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, and its comorbidities, and autism spectrum disorders. I see patients from a wide area in and around the Midwest. I have had two articles published in Attention Magazine and I have spoken at fifteen of the last twenty international CHADD conferences, usually on issues related to ADHD, anxiety and autism. I am under contract to publish a book this fall or early winter on treating autism spectrum disorder with medications.
I am married, have three children, two step-children, and eleven grandchildren. I reside in Indianapolis and enjoy car racing, golf, and wood working.
