No prizes for guessing that STAND UP IN THE BASEMENT is a stand up comedy night and guess what? It’s on a Tuesday night! Meaning you get to see top TV comics making you chuckle in the same room, and for a fraction of the normal price!

As well as familiar faces from TV, we feature some of the best circuit comics, plus new raw talent and occasionally a few big names who wanna come and try out some new material. It’s tailor-made for people who love live comedy! You’ll get to see a diverse range of comic talent in an intimate space.

⭐ MARKUS BIRDMAN

Markus Birdman is one of British comedy’s most experienced and well-travelled performers. In demand all over the UK and abroad, Markus is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe with 11 solo shows to his credit and headliner status at all the top clubs, including The Comedy Store, The Komedia, Hot Water, The Stand and Soho Theatre. He was a Nominee of Chortle's 'Best Club Comic' and he’s performed at the Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth Comedy Festivals and was nominated by the New Zealand Comedy Guild for Best International Guest. His international gig list includes Pakistan, Singapore, China, UAE, Austria, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Finland and India to name a few.

He had his own Netflix Stand Up Special, ‘Live in Amsterdam’ & was also co-writer on Jayde Adams’s Amazon Prime Stand Up Special, ‘Serious Black Jumper’. He supported Jason Manson on tour in 2022, and most recently had the audience and Britain's Got Talent judges howling with laughter on BGT semi-finals 2023.

Based in Brighton, by day Dave is a bestselling, award-winning author.
In his two short years doing stand-up he has already amassed a number of comedy accolades. He has won the Castle Comedy Cup, Big Nose Gong Show, Bill Murray Roast Battle, Oi Oi Comedy Competition, Soho Comedy Revue. He was Runner up in the Reading ‘New Comedian of the Year’, ‘New Forest Comedian of the Year’, ‘Owen's Got Talent’ competition. Finalist in the ‘King Gong’, West End New Act of the Year, Broadwater's Got Talent, Backyard Comedy Knockout. Now gigging for clubs, promoters and festivals all over the UK, it has been said that he is one of the most exciting new one-liner comics on the circuit today.

Our compere and your host for Stand in The Basement, Colin Owens, is an award-winning stand-up comedian, who has worked with Jimmy Carr, the teams behind The Inbetweeners and Mighty Boosh. Described as ‘laconic and charming’, Colin talks about his failings, inadequacies, mistakes and general stupidity, all tinged with an air of paranoia and insecurity, but delivered with supreme confidence and sexual edginess!

NATURE OF THE BEAST: The line-up for such nights can be subject to change, but the quality of our events will not be compromised!!!

TIMINGS: We aim to kick off the show at 8pm, there'll be an opening act, short break, shorter middle section, break and finishing up with the headliner. The show finishes at around 10.30pm. The bar downstairs will be open before and after the show, and the upstairs bar will be open for the intervals also.
