Join us in the heart of Brighton for an evening of vulnerable songs in an intimate venue with Freddie Lewis, Tommy Khosla, Lizmnk and Sambambo. If you like thoughtful lyricism and the sounds of sax, handbells or sitar, you might like the sound of us.

About the artists

Freddie Lewis, a rising trans artist from Bristol, has spent the past two years making a name for himself within the UK queer scene. His music uses thought-provoking lyricism, infectious hooks, and genuine emotion, drawing from jazz and electronic influences. Since his debut single ‘Growing Pains' in 2021, Freddie has received widespread support from the LGBTQ+ community in the UK, as well as being featured on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music, Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’, ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Our Generation’ playlists and earning a spot as a cover artist on Spotify’s ‘Transcend’ playlist for four months. With many performances across the country, including renowned festivals like The Great Escape, Glastonbury and Iceland Airwaves, Freddie returned in 2023 with his second E.P. ‘More Than That’.

Sitarist and composer Tommy Khosla navigates a diverse musical landscape, citing inspiration from a variety of genres including Latin jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music. Khosla gained notable recognition with the release of their debut solo album, "Vignettes," a self-produced LP featured in Songlines Magazine and BBC Asian Network. Currently studying under Anoushka Shankar and Ricky Romain, Khosla's performances encompass a wide spectrum, from playing Genshin Impact’s youtube concert with London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Birmingham Symphony Hall with Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, to grassroots performances including St Thomas' Hospital (Lyrix Organix) and educational settings like Oxford University (The World's Music at Oxford). Recently featured on the title track of Hagan’s “Good Food” EP (Soulection) alongside Sheila Maurice-Grey (KOKOROKO), Khosla's collaborations show his commitment to reshaping the sitar's narrative.

East London's lizmnk blends visual arts, spoken word, and music. She draws from her Congolese and London roots, while influenced by soul, R&B - often self-produced - and an activism-spirituality blend. Her music delves into her inner world, touching on themes such as society, community, and self-actualisation. Lizmnk has gained airplay on BBC Introducing, Voices Radio and more. She has graced venues and festivals such Tate Modern, Cafe Koko, Hootenanny Brixton, Ronnie Scott’s, Soho House, Greenbelt Festival, and Boxpark Shoreditch. Listen here.

Sambambo is a sax player and singer-songwriter whose bouncy joy for music is infectious. Threading through all her performance is a deep love for the tradition of jazz and Black American Music, and playing in a UK context with its own vibrant jazz scene, she flits between singing and playing sometimes in the same breath. Some of her songs are beautifully moving, and others are a little silly. Unafraid to be vulnerable on and offstage, she talks openly about living with bipolar disorder, existing alongside grief and loving queerly. With her own band she’s played Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s three times, Greenbelt Festival twice and you can find her playing in the background of a pub on most Sundays. With a love for sax everywhere, she plays for many independent artists in the UK jazz and soul scene, and some queer international artists. Also passionate about women in sound engineering, later in July she’ll release her first single, independent and self-produced.
