Join us on 8th December to celebrate the re-opening of Aberdeen’s much loved, historic Music Hall following a £9m transformation.
Doors open at 9.30am with free entry all day to a packed programme of performances and activities from local communities across the North-east who have been participating in the award winning Music Hall ‘Stepping Out’ programme during closure.
Travis frontman Fran Healy will make a special appearance to lead the 100 strong Music Hall community choir in a performance of the iconic song ‘Sing.’
Join in our Big Sing, be amazed at our new digital artspace with its floor to ceiling video wall and first commission Meet Me at the Music Hall by Iso Design, enjoy a slice of our giant Music Hall cake, come along and meet our Music Hall Babies and Young Ambassadors, listen to our young musicians from Orchard Brae with Drake Music Scotland and our intergenerational project Spinning Songs with pupils from Gilcomstoun School and Scottish Opera.
Don’t miss the ‘In Love in the Music Hall’ exhibition, 12 poems commissioned from leading UK poets, inspired by music and illustrated by Andrew Cranston. Enjoy our new touch screen story of the Music Hall ‘The Walls Have Ears’ and Forget Me Not, Sara Stroud’s digital carousel playing Music Hall stories, memories and memorabilia on 12 revolving mini screens.
And more…aerial artists, face painting, caricature artist, living statue, storytelling, Victorian photographer, performances from APA youth theatre, sound, Citymoves and Big Noise Torry.
That’s not all! We’ll be introducing our new food and beverage facilities at the Music Hall. Enjoy pre-concert dining on our beautiful new restaurant Rondo or visit the Coda Café Bar, the perfect place to relax for drinks, coffee and cake, affogatos, light bites and sharing platters. We’ll be announcing our menus shortly and are now taking bookings for Rondo.
Welcome back to the Music Hall. It's the best Christmas present ever!
