SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUNDAn Evening of Americana Songwriting from Scotland & the USADAVID STARR, MARTHA L HEALY, AL SHIELDS DAVID STARR (USA)David Starr is an Americana singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist living in Cedaredge, Colorado. His music has roots in Arkansas blues, country rock and classic rock. Influences range from The Band to Jackson Browne to Eagles to Eric Clapton and Todd Rundgren.Starr owns and operates a retail music store called Starr's Guitars in Cedaredge, Colorado where he makes his home. He gigged with the David Starr Band until the fall of 2013 when he decided to devote more time to his solo efforts. The DSB opened for Travis Tritt, Survivor, The Guess Who and Clint Black in recent years in addition to playing dates all over the western slope of Colorado and in Starr's native Arkansas. MARTHA L HEALY (Glasgow)Scottish singer-songwriter, Martha L. Healy, has returned with her new album ‘Keep The Flame Alight’ which was released on 5th October 2018.The album was written and recorded in Nashville and sees her develop her personal songwriting voice whilst remaining true to the musical influences of her childhood. Growing up, she was raised on a diet of Americana music, before she knew what that even meant. The Eagles, The Traveling Wilburys and folk heroes, The Dubliners were all staples of the Healy family vinyl collection. The collection also included music by Patsy Cline, Carole King and anything remotely Motown. AL SHIELDS (Leith)Al Shields is an Edinburgh-based songwriter, with influences rooted in old-time country, folk and blues music.Originally from the small Scottish island of Bute (where he grew up on a healthy diet of country and folk music from his mother's record collection), Al moved to Edinburgh in 2005, and is a founding member of indie outfit Ardentjohn, with whom he has enjoyed independent success. Their debut album ‘On The Wire’ garnered very favourable reviews in mainstream music press, with Uncut magazine describing the band as “refreshing new arrivals”.
