Host Comedian – Danny Ward
Nominee Leicester Mercury Comedian Of The Year
Since November 2008 Danny Ward has been travelling Great Britain, often in his T reg Polo, sometimes on the coach, entertaining audiences with his unique style of observational humour. A self-proclaimed tataholic, Danny Ward is on a mission to spread the lesson he refuses to learn – when you try and do things on the cheap, it ends up costing you more. With a delivery that is up-beat and well honed, his easy-going style is both endearing and very funny. He has gigged extensively across the UK including comedy venues such as The Comedy Club, The Glee Clubs and the Highlight. He has also performed in Northern Ireland at the Belfast Empire, as well as in Germany, Tenerife, Maastricht and Croatia.
Opening Comedian – Peter Brush
‘Unique observations and connections that stand-ups crave’ – The Guardian
A highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, Peter Brush unassumingly takes the stage with his slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines, all delivered in an amusingly awkward fashion. Peter has been a finalist in a variety of local and national comedy competitions including the BBC New Comedy Award 2013, as well as winning the Harrogate Comedian of the Year 2012. He has also written for BBC Radio 4’s ‘The News Quiz’, ‘The Show What You Wrote’ and ‘Newsjack’, and supported Arthur Smith during his 2013 tour.
Closing Comedian – Markus Birdman
'Birdman cuts a dashing figure, elegant, smart, theatrical. A hugely entertaining hour of thoughtful, heartfelt, mature comedy, performed with great energy and dynamism' (Chortle)
Markus Birdman is one of British comedy's most experienced and well-travelled performers. In demand all over the UK and abroad, Markus is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe with many solo shows to his credit and headliner status at all the top clubs. He's performed at the Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth Comedy Festivals, and was nominated by the New Zealand Comedy Guild for Best International Guest. His international gig list would give Michael Palin a run for his money, with shows in Singapore, The Netherlands, Qatar, Bahrain, Austria, Spain, France, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Pakistan, India, Switzerland, Finland, Cyprus and India to name a few. Not to be missed, catch him in the UK before he jets off again. “Delightfully comic. Controversial, personal and wickedly punchy.” The List “A consummate comic…energetic, engaging, thought-provoking and funny." The Stage
