THESSALONIKI , Greece, is a fun, vibrant city to explore and enjoy a carefree, August Bank Holiday long weekend with seaside views, a swim too if you're up for it!

The city was founded in 315 BC and it's always been a cultural hub, beautifully blending modern life with ancient sites and elements of the Archaic, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman eras.

It hosts over 15 UNESCO world heritage monuments, numerous early Christianic churches, museums with precious timeless treasures.

But what Thessaloniki is MOSTLY famous about, are the countless cafes, the vibrant bars and restaurants, the culinary experience for your palette, the fun nights, the innate local hospitality.

If you have a sweet tooth, Heaven is a place on Earth indeed and you have just transported yourself there!

Friday 23rd August : Arrival & meeting up, getting to know the other participants while enjoying dinner with local cuisine specialties, also Thessaloniki by night.

Saturday, 24th August : A walk around the historical city centre by Eleni 'as a local' to explore its sites and flavours, throughout the day.

We are visiting the brand new Modiano covered & Kapani open market, Aristotle Sq, Ladadika, patron st Demetrios cathedral & crypt, the Rotonda, the Arch of Galerius, Navarinou sq, while stopping by to indulge in local flavours. Lunch in an authentic greek tavern, tasting numerous mezedes - tapas style local specialities, cause sharing is caring!

Finishing up with magnificent views on top of the White Tower, the major landmark of the city.

Saturday night in a vibrant open-air sea side bar-club as summer is still full on in Greece.

Sunday, 25th August : Optional full day trip with a local tour operator to a blue flag beach in Halkidiki, to swim & sun bathe in the crystal clear turquoise waters and the vibrant beach bars. 

We may choose a different destination depending on most people's preferences, once there.

Alternatively you may visit the very important Archaeological and Byzantine museums, the brand new Jewish museum or chill out around the city.

Thessaloniki was named after the sister of Alexander the Great! Admire ever lasting treasures, and world heritage sights.

Be refreshed at the pirates bar boat with a cold drink and a mini cruise around Thermaikos gulf, seeing the city from a different perspective!

The upper old town and the Byzantine walls await for more stunning views.

Kindly allow some flexibility of the order we visit everything of the above itinerary for an optimal experience.

An additional day or two is highly recommended if you wish to take your time, explore better, enjoy further.

Maybe treat yourself to a day by the lush open air stunning swimming pool in the finest 5 * hotel in the city, enjoy a cocktail in the sunshine before winter starts, detox and destress with a massage, top up in vitamin D and a radiant tan.
