Salford: The Future

Salford: The Future

12noon – 2.30pm, 19th May 2016, Ordsall Hall, Salford, M5 3AN.

Free to attend.  Food & drink provided.

Salford is the North West’s first Social Enterprise City and as we look to maintain that status we’ll be exploring what the future might hold for our local economy.

Over the past decade the City has been transformed with billions of pounds invested in new homes, infrastructure and public spaces. After 70 years of population decline Salford is now growing at an unprecedented rate with forecasts for jobs and growth outstripping that of Greater Manchester and the UK.

But how do we connect the City and its residents to the growing opportunities in and around Salford?

As the City transforms how do we secure sustainable growth, the creation of decent accessible jobs and ensure that investment and regeneration are focussed on those areas most in need?

How can the city council, businesses, social enterprises, charities and communities best work together to ensure that Salford and Greater Manchester has an economy that works for all?

With the help of our panel of experts we’ll be exploring the main challenges facing our City, what we need to prioritise and how we can ensure that Salford truly does become the most dynamic and modern global City in the region.

Our guests include:

Jenny Rouse, Associate Director, Centre for Local Economic Strategies

Peter Holbrook, Chief Executive, Social Enterprise UK

Karen Hirst, Development Director, Salford City Council

Alan Purvis, Managing Director, Mettler Toledo-Safeline

Simone Spray, Chief Executive, 42nd Street

Alison Page, Chief Executive, Salford CVS
