Evan Williams + Bleach

Kentish troubadour Evan Williams releases his debut album The View From Halfway Down through Strap Originals on April 11th 2025. It is available on 12” clear vinyl and digital download and is available to order here: https://evanwilliams.tmstor.es/

The View From Halfway Down
was recorded over three sessions at The Albion Rooms in Margate and produced by Jason Stafford (The Libertines, Peter Doherty, PREGOBLIN, Trampolene). For the album, Evan Williams has embraced the power of his own narrative and over the course of 10 songs explores themes of love, loss, self-loathing and addiction. It’s a highly compelling and mature collection from a talent who belies his years. Evan is merely 23-years-of-age.Evan Williams’ Radio X-playlisted lead single Ride On was praised by Louder Than War as “the first great single of 2025”. The single’s eye-catchingly bizarre music video sees the Evan Williams band kart around Margate in Sinclair C-5’s, the world’s first commercially available electric vehicle.

This was quickly followed by Kindred Sin, of which the Best Tuna blog says it “sways like a half-remembered dream, flickering between romantic escapism and the gut-punch of reality. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to pack a bag, disappear into the mist, and let the road decide where you end up.”
Further highlights from the album include For Anyone, which showcases Evan’s controlled vulnerability at the piano and it acts as a captivating, melancholic alternative to the more driving alt-rock of previous singles.

Evan Williams: "The View From Halfway Down is a coming of age record. It’s a documentation of my stumbling first steps into adulthood and ponderings on the future. It’s about how it feels to try and make a life for yourself in a crumbling industry and an increasingly uncertain future."
Evan is constantly touring venues around the country, solo or with the band. He has recently supported Peter Doherty, The Libertines and Hak Baker. And will be playing on the Strap Originals takeover at The Great Escape in Brighton on May 14th. More dates will be announced shortly.

As a defiant champion of the alternative, Evan’s future might be fixed sparring in the shadows of the underground, but if he’s caught in the searchlights, armed and equipped with his constantly surprising creative talent, he’ll come out fighting and win.

Evan Williams band: Evan Williams (vox/piano/guitar), Rocco Marche (guitar), Sahib Dhinsa (bass) and Albie Lucas (drums).
