Maiuko & Quartet

Maiuko & Quartet. Maiuko has her very own style, blending Jazz, Blues, African inspired rhythms and Portuguese melodies into one timeless language of music. Throughout her career, she has won Awards for Best Newcomer, Female Performer of the year, Best Female Voice, Best uploaded on Get-out-there, and most recently for Multifaceted Artist.

She has also collaborated with and appeared worldwide alongside musical greats, such as; Max Middleton, Chris Difford, Dick Pearce, Jeff Beck, Noel McCalla, Sara Tavares, Carmen Souza, to mention but a few.

Based in the UK, Maiuko is currently writing an album with her Quartet Martin Virgo on Keys, Alex Keen on D.Bass, -Paul Brasington on Violin and Smith Lyons on Drums, plus some exciting collaborations with world-renowned musicians.

Martin Virgo (MD)

Award winner classically trained Pianist Composer, published Songwriter and Film Orchestrator Martin Virgo has worked with many established Artists, Music Producers, and Film Directors. To name a few; Carl Davis (The London Symphony Orchestra) Film Director Malcolm Venville. Anny Lennox, Bjork, Simply Red, Sade, Seal, Massive Attack, Alanis Morrissette, Mica Paris, Young Disciples, Pasadenas, and many, more. Martin has joined Maiuko & the Quartet in 2014.

Alex Keen

Bass Player Alex Keen is an acclaimed Guildhall musician (accompanied George Shearing for the Masterclass South Bank Show) Throughout his career he has toured the UK extensively with the Theo Travis Quartet and the Philip Clouts Quartet. Collaborations with many established musicians including; Dick Pearce, Costello Quartet, Anita Wardell, Frances Knight Quartet, Tony Coe, Jim Mullen, Henry Lowther, John Etheridge, Pete King etc...Alex has joined Maiuko & The Quartet in 2014.

Paul Brasington

Brasington is a folk and jazz violinist music reader and improviser in multiple genres, currently guesting widely in Hastings and East Sussex.

Paul has been playing with Maiuko and the Quartet internationally since 2013/14.

Soul, Funk, jazz drummer. Currently working with The Ravenleas, Dave Ferra Blues Allstars, and has been playing with Maiuko and the Quartet since 2016.
