Hop & Hazlewood Comedy Club | Roger Monkhouse, Ricky Balshaw & Ian Murphy | 28th August '26

We're back at the Hop & Hazelwood with Tyldesley's monthly comedy night - showcasing the very best comedians in the country and headlined by the hilarious ROGER MONKHOUSE! 🤣

ROGER MONKHOUSE

Roger Monkhouse is one of the most original and distinctive acts on the comedy scene. A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience.

Since his debut in 1990 Roger Monkhouse has been a regular performer at The Comedy Store, The Glee Clubs and all major comedy clubs around the UK and internationally.

"He is a gifted natural, with the years of experience to know how to handle a crowd, which goes to make him one of the consummate professionals of the stand-up circuit". - Chortle
"Highly regarded by his peers on the circuit - he's shaven-headed, topical, good, and nothing to do with Bob!" - Evening Standard

Also Featuring...

RICKY BALSHAW

A quick-witted, slow walking, fast rising star, Ricky Balshaw is without question, the funniest Paralympic Dressage medallist in the UK, perhaps the world.

Stepping over his cerebral palsy like it’s the mildest of inconveniences, Ricky pulls his audience into a joyfully dark world of self-depreciating hilarity. No sympathy vote is needed (or accepted) as Ricky dominates comedy stages up and down the UK.

A brilliant joke-smith and storyteller, this young man has comedy greatness in his bones.

Also Featuring...

IAN MURPHY

At 51, Ian Murphy is a fresh face in the comedy world, bringing a unique mix of 80's cynicism and contemporary confusion to the stage. Originally from Liverpool, Ian's transition from a failed football career and a loss of £1M live on TV to stand-up comedy has provided him with a wealth of material that resonates with audiences.

Now living away from his hometown for over half his life, Ian humorously reflects on his recovering "scouseness" and the cultural shifts he's witnessed.

Hosted by resident MC, JACK KELLY

Jack Kelly is a proper nice lad from up North. In 2026, he came third in the prestigious Leicester Comedian Of The Year, a competition previously won (and lost) by some of the biggest names in comedy. His sharp wit and affable charm makes Jack a big hit with mainstream audiences. British Comedy Guide says he has “hilarious anecdotes” and Bolton FM called him “an exceptional comedian”.

He’s written for BBC Radio 4’s Newsjack, has featured on BBC Upload, and his act was described as “very funny” by BBC Radio 2.Jack is also a well respected MC - in 2020 he co-founder the award-winning Laughięnda Comedy Club and runs various professional comedy nights across Manchester.
