Edinburgh’s Jed Potts and the Hillman Hunters have been supplying only the deepest of grooves and the rudest of shuffles since 2008. The trio is completed by Jonny Christie and Charlie Wild on drums and bass respectively and are all about general musical rascality. The Hillmans’ self-titled debut was released in 2018 and received glowing reviews from various publications including Blues Matters and Blues in Britain, with the latter describing the album a “sensational eponymous debut”.During 2020 and 2021 JP & the HH managed to record a handful of new original songs, releasing them as a series of singles. One of these, “It Won’t Be Long”, received airplay on Cerys Matthews’ Blues Show on Radio 2.
In summer 2022 Jed Potts & the Hillman Hunters signed a deal with Wasted State Music to release their new album, ‘Swashbucklin’’. Released on October 28th, 2022, Swashbucklin’ comprises the five aforementioned singles, plus the remaining four tracks from the same sessions, and is the band’s first album of exclusively original compositions. The album is available on both CD and vinyl from all good record shops, and to stream on all major platforms. In summer 2023 the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival commissioned Jed and the boys to compose 30 minutes worth of new material. The material was debuted at the festival in July 2023 and will make up the bulk of the next album, to be recorded later this year.Jed Potts & the Hillman Hunters can be found performing at various festivals and venues around the UK, as well as at home in Edinburgh.Line-up:
