Join us on Thursday, the 27th of August. We have four independent acoustic artists, all based on the south coast, for your listening pleasure. Hosted by Charlie Smith (Southampton), we will not just be looking to promote upcoming music but also raise funds for the Music Venue Trust. One pound for every ticket will go to supporting the vital work they do. Every ticket will make a difference, and thanks for your support.
My name might be common, but my style is alternative. I’m Charlie Smith, a singer-songwriter from Romsey, Hampshire. I perform solo and have experience playing and hosting my own independent shows at venues such as The Railway Inn, Flack Manor Brewery, and The Platform Tavern. I am super passionate about grassroots music and regularly participate in action to grow my local scene. Fiercely independent, I record and produce all music with a true DIY ethos. In April, I hosted six gigs in England as part of my music venue trust fundraiser tour. I managed to fundraise £575, including events in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool & Leicester.
Suzanne is an alt-folk singer-songwriter based in Brighton. A classically trained musician from a young age, Suzanne studied piano until the influences of punk and rock proved too much of a distraction! After rediscovering her passion for playing music she studied vocal technique at The Institute for Contemporary Music in London, picked up the guitar and started writing! Following a move from London to Brighton she, along with two friends, created and performed for a short time in the avant-garde vocal group WAWM before she returned to the guitar and started performing regularly as a solo artist. Suzanne has been influenced by a wide range of music including folk, folk punk and Americana. She writes raw, poignant, candid songs and her aptly titled debut EP ‘Plain Speaking’ was released on June 9th 2024. Suzanne is also the bass player and backing vocalist in Brighton-based post-punk/alt-rock band Danger of Death!
