Weill Woman: FROM BERLIN TO BROADWAY

“Weill Woman” is a funny, quirky and intimate portrait of the life and work of Kurt Weill – the German-born composer who fled when the Nazis came to power and re-invented himself as an American musical theatre creator, writing the music for “Lady In The Dark”, “Street Scene” and “One Touch of Venus”. 

Weill influenced Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein amongst others and his most famous song “Mack The Knife” (from his work “The Threepenny Opera”) has been recorded multiple times by artists like Bobby Darin, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. 

But what about his other songs and shows?

“Weill Woman” explores some of his other works with a particular eye on how he writes for women and how his message is still relevant today.
