Normal Birth Conference

The University of Suffolk Midwifery Society, alongside the School of Health Sciences are delighted to announce and invite you to their first Normal Birth Conference: Normal Birth and Contemporary Culture. The Conference will be held in the Auditorium on the 2nd floor, Waterfront Building, Neptune Quay, University of Suffolk. The Society aims to inspire and nurture student midwives, as well as encourage local midwives, other healthcare professionals and educators, alongside service users to be a part in this fantastic event - celebrating normal birth and local practices. The Conference is held to welcome our new cohort of students, to celebrate the successes of current students and as part of leaver's week.

We have a fantastic line up of Nationally acclaimed speakers as well as speakers from local NHS Trusts and local organisations - all with a passion for promoting a positive birth experience. Confirmed speakers include:

Mark Harris: 'Men, Love and Birth'; author, educator and midwife

Dianne Garland: 'Waterbirth Revisited'; author, researcher and midwife

Natalie Meddings: 'Why Homebirth Matters'; author, educator and doula

Representatives from Ipswich Hospital on establishing a free hypnobirthing education programme for expectant couples in Suffolk and the Positive Birth Movement: Bury st Edmunds

Anna Coonan-Byrom: 'Editor-in-Chief of the Practicing Midwife Journal'; senior midwifery lecturer - University of Central Lancashire and our key-note speaker

All tickets include lunch and refreshments.
