No prizes for guessing that STAND UP IN THE BASEMENT is a stand up comedy night and guess what? It’s on a Tuesday night! Meaning you get to see top TV comics making you chuckle in the same room, and for a fraction of the normal price!

As well as familiar faces from TV, we feature some of the best circuit comics, plus new raw talent and occasionally a few big names who wanna come and try out some new material. It’s tailor-made for people who love live comedy! You’ll get to see a diverse range of comic talent in an intimate space.

⭐ Vittorio Angelone

Vittorio Angelone is an Italian-Irish comedian who grew up in Belfast. After moving to London to train as a classical musician he eventually made the predictable switch to stand-up comedy. He has risen through the ranks of the comedy world at an incredible speed, building a following with stand-up clips, podcasts and sketches amassing millions of views online.

He has supported huge names on tour fincluding Russell Howard, Jason Manford, Adam Rowe, Shane Todd, and Dan Nightingale. In 2022 he sold out his debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the prestigious Dave Comedy Awards. He has been seen on BBC One, Channel 4, TVI Podcast, and as a guest and guest co-host of the Have A Word Podcast.

⭐ Rob Deering

The UK's foremost guitar-wielding, loop-layering stand-up comedian. Along with being one of the most in-demand headliners on the UK circuit, Rob’s toured nationally and performed solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe many times since starting out in comedy in the year 2000. His late-night, live-music comedy pop quiz Beat This is a festival institution, on London’s South Bank, at Wales’ Green Man and many more besides Edinburgh. Rob’ also a keen marathon runner and Parkinson's UK Champion of Running.

Rob has performed throughout the world, in shows from the Middle East to Melbourne, Shanghai to the South of France. His TV appearances include: Pointless Celebrities (BBC One), Celebrity Eggheads (BBC Two) and Celebrity Mastermind (BBC One). He also won a special comedian’s edition of The Weakest Link.

His other credits include Strictly: It Takes Two (BBC Two), Comedy Rocks With Jason Manford (ITV), Celebrity Juice (ITV2), Out To Lunch (BBC Radio 2), My Teenage Diary (BBC Radio 4) and The Panic Room (BBC Radio 4).

Our compere and your host for Stand in The Basement, Colin Owens, is an award-winning stand-up comedian, who has worked with Jimmy Carr, the teams behind The Inbetweeners and Mighty Boosh. Described as ‘laconic and charming’, Colin talks about his failings, inadequacies, mistakes and general stupidity, all tinged with an air of paranoia and insecurity, but delivered with supreme confidence and sexual edginess!

!!!Change of venue!!! Mango Basement is temporarily closed. This event is upstairs at Heartbreakers • 7-9 Hanover Buildings, Southampton, SO14 1JX • https://www.heartbreakers.uk/

🕟 Timings: We aim to kick off the show for 8pm and be finished by 10.30pm, sometimes it's a little later. There will be two short breaks between the first act, the middle acts and the headline act and the bar downstairs is open before and after the show.
We recommend getting to the venue before 7.30pm so you can have a drink and a chat before the show.

NATURE OF THE BEAST: The line-up for such nights can be subject to change, but the quality of our events will not be compromised!!!
