About the venue: A traditional pub, rated 4.3 from around 1,100 reviews, open 11am to 11pm Tuesday to Thursday and 10pm on Mondays. Built in 1864 and rebuilt in 1932, it retains its three original bars with wall panelling and banquettes, plus a conservatory and beer garden. It is dog friendly and reviewers describe it as a genuine local — quieter and more conversational than a Canary Wharf corporate bar.

Getting there: Crossharbour DLR is a minute from the door, on the line running to Bank and Tower Gateway, so the venue is straightforward to reach from the City. Note it is on the Isle of Dogs proper rather than in the Canary Wharf estate — about fifteen minutes' walk or one DLR stop from Canary Wharf itself. There is a bus interchange beside the station, and unlike the Wharf, parking here is realistic.
