History of Video Games - Dundee

History of Video Games is coming to Dundee for the first time ever! ready for the half term holidays from Saturday March 30th to Sunday April 14th - open daily, with a massive collection of retro and vintage arcade machine classics, consoles, handhelds and special video game guest stars - Just in time for the school holidays and after work fun!

the event is for family's, friends and gamers of all ages...

The event is pay to enter, then all the games you can play are free for the entire session, no coins required and as each session is restricted to a maximum of 50 people, it means there is plenty of game time for everyone!

This edition see's for the first time the arrival of 90s Video Game stars Earth Worm Jim and Crash Bandicoot, along side Mario and Sonic and many many more, and did someone say Guitar Hero!, come and meet some old friends, or introduce your kids to their new friends, or maybe see who can get the highest score on Arcade Pac-man, Space Invaders or Street Fighter 2 - This is our biggest event yet!

Running for 2 weeks, this event is for all fans of video games, our events cover over 30 years of gaming using the original machines from back in the day

Our event space is inside the WELLGATE SHOPPING CENTRE, DUNDEE, On the 3rd floor, next to the Library entrance and the Gym Entrance - there is parking onsite and the centre is near rail, bus and taxi's - visit the centres website for more info https://www.wellgatedundee.co.uk/

Alongside our curated selection of vintage consoles and games for 8bit (including a C64!!), 16bit and 32bit nostalgia, including the NES, Master System, Super Nintendo, Megadrive, Playstation, N64, Game Cube,Sega Saturn, Playstation 1+2+3+4 and many more, including handhelds , and our special guest stars at this event is the Nintendo Switch console with the Latest Mario Kart game, projected onto the big screen with 4 player fun, alongside Fifa on the PS4.

Our opening times are daily roughly 10am till 7pm and we run several sessions a day, each session holds a max of 50 people and you pay £10 Adults £6 for Children for all the video games you can play within each session, no coins required (we tend to sell out on weekends and school holidays) so please book in advance.

What age is a child? Children are under 16 years

Can Children come on their own? Children under 11 years must be with a full paying adult

Do you offer group discounts? yes we do for groups over 8 people - msg us via our facebook page for info

Do you host birthday parties and private hire events? Yes we can, msg us via our facebook page.

I am a career, can i attend for free with my guest - yes of course, just book 1 ticket and careers go free, just show us proof of this on the door (badge or registered letter)

Where can I park? - the Wellgate centre has a carpark, parking prices may vary, please check the centre website for details

Are you near a bus stop - Yes the Wellgate centre is in the heart of Dundee's shopping district, near all bus, train and within walking distance of the train station and the new V+A

How long is a session? - session times can vary depending on the day, but around 2.5hrs

Are all the games from the 80s and 90s or are they emulators - Emulators are ilegal! all our games are from the 70s, 80s and 90s, over 40 years old - with the wear and tear to prove it - come and enjoy a piece of history...
