NOTE:
I am 4th on so don't be late, if you come after 7:45PM, you would have missed me.
The event is called 'Fight Factory Thriller' my coach Lee Swaby (google it - he is famous for fighting Tyson Fury) has finally found me an opponent from Manchester (His choice). My opponent unlike me has been in the ring several times however I have been training for 3 years.
'WHY THOUGH DUMI' as my mum would say;
I won't lie to you closer friends, whilst this event has affiliation to a local charity, I'm not fighting for Charity.
I turned to boxing at a very low point of my life. I had worked extremely hard in my 20s and whilst I was able to get some great moments of 'success' running club nights, I had realised my ego was totally driving me and as a result my self estimate and overall confidence took a heavy fall.
I was very lucky to have good people around me who lifted my spirit and in the last few years I've faced the mirror more and spent a lot more time discovering who I am and accepting my flaws as well the good things.
Boxing helped me face humility, you can not box with an ego - you've got to learn to be comfortable boxing with the tools god gave you - accepting responsibility & taking ownership... I mean if you don't, the other guy will punch you in the face. As I have got better at boxing my life has got better and I am finally truly happy in my life.
And so this is a celebration, a pretty scary one, I would like to share my first boxing fight experience with you... I am nervous, scared but I am ready. I've also not drunk for a couple of month sooooo - let's catch a drink after.
Love (P.s If the grammar is terrible, sorry, I am actually rushing to go boxing and Charlotte hasn't checked this yet)
Dumi
