The southwest HipHop invasion comes to you for the very first time at 229 the Venue, Great Portland street, London, Bringing you 2 Rooms of Variety Hip-hop bought to you by the best in the Southwest!

Join us for an 8 hour eclectic mix of LIVE HipHop, Comedy HipHop, ChapHop, Swinghop and Funk ‘N’ Soul Artists & Djs across 2 stages as Well as Graffitti Merch, Breakdancing and More!

Doors at 6.30pm. Live acts & DJs performing in both rooms from 7pm, club night from 1 am after headline act with DJ @aces high.

Goldie Lookin Chain (GLC)

Coming straight out of Newport The GLC are officially Britains biggest rap group. Know for classics like "Guns don't kill people rappers do" and "Your mother's got a penis", The GLC started almost by accident around the turn of the century with Eggsy’s impromptu rap about his tracksuit over a serious piece of music Rhys was working on in the studio. Adam Hussain, Billy Webb, Mystkal, the Maggot, 2hats and Mike Balls convinced Rhys to record the rap. Fuelled by Lambrini, fags, Chicken Tikka Massala and weed they all took to the mic and The GLC’s first album “Don’t Blame the Chain” was born. And so it began, the journey which has so far seen The GLC rise to the top of the charts, perform around the world and at every major festival in the Western Hemisphere and make millions of people laugh along the way. Now many years since that first rap about Eggsy's tracksuit, the boys are still keeping it real in the rap game and hold the title of the most successful UK rap act ever. To date The GLC have released 18 albums... and amazingly none of them have died yet. You knows it!

Professor Elemental

Welcome to the world of Professor Elemental. An award winning hip hop artist and accomplished host, the Professor has performed all over the world at everything from festivals to wedding parties, hip hop shows to bizarre burlesque. A regular on the worldwide convention and festival scene he has played everywhere from Canada to Cambodia.
With a career spanning a decade, Professor Elemental first got noticed with ‘Cup Of Brown Joy’ which notched up over two million views and headlines in the national press. This was soon followed by a scuffle with another rapper named Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer, resulting in the follow up ‘Fighting Trousers’; which has been viewed over three million times and gained worldwide acclaim.
On stage the Professor is a wild combination of music and comedy, incorporating improvisation and new material for each live show

The Swinghoppers

The Swinghoppers are a live act that take the feel good vibes of vintage Swing music and combines it with the swagger and energy of Golden Era Hop Hop! The result is something greater than the sum of its parts and is a show guaranteed to delight any crowd!

Motion Enterprise

Motion enterprise are 9-man hip hop crew hailing from Gloucestershire bringing that 90's boom bap vibe with a fresh new twist to keep your ears locked tight and your head bumping. With everything produced in-house by Sketchster you can count on the fact everything they bring is that full fat rawness with no compromises. Kadenza, Spit Milligan, Farai, Catchy P, Stromboli and General Hindsight make up the rest of the rap roster, each with a unique blend of hard hitting lyricism to make sure your minds never bored. DJ's Nomo and Thug Jesus hold it down properly to make sure every live set is straight banger. All that together...that's that fuego right there.

JPDL & Yogi Beats

JPDL + Yogi Beats have been working within the south west music scene for the past 10 years. Fast paced, dynamic and overwhelmingly engaging. Yogi's penchant for dusty soul and jazz licks provide the perfect space and tone for JPDL's tales as he translates thought to sound for a diverse range of audiences. The duo deliver a live rendition of their latest offering, their brand new self-titled album; as featured on wordplay magazine. They tap into that classic hip hop vibe with clever sample-craft and witty wordplay. Expect an eclectic mix of head-nod conscious lyricism, live cuts and melodic hooks.

Creatures Of Habit

Creatures Of Habit are a 3 member Hip Hop group from Bristol comprised of rappers Eric The Red & Sean Peng along side the producer Illinformed. The group prides itself on staying true to old school hip hop with heavy beats and punchlines with crazy flows.
All the 3 members are part of the record labels RLD & Lost Scroll Records.

FREE'MINDS

JamC, Riffree and Charts decided in early 2017 to combine their like minded lyrical content and passion for Hip-hop and Formed the collective the is FREE’MINDS.
Each bringing their own identities and characters to life through their music, expressing independent views and insights into the way they view the world.

All three started off independently from one another but as close friends has always featured on releases and music videos. Due to being part of GK beats the music sub-section of the London based Graffiti Kings they've been able to reach a global fan base of over 2 million followers and growing fast. This alone has allowed them to share their take on the world with a much wider audience in the Hip-hop community.

Whitey Blindo & Milver

Whitey Blindo, formerly known as Shakespliff is the founder of G-Shire Entertainment and a former member of Chequelectic, Methodical Concept and the band Emmett Brown, as well as battling for Don't Flop Entertainment and Redjsd. Hailing from Cheltenham, Whitey has spent the last two years living in Oxford spreading the G-Shire Entertainment movement across the border.
Whitey Joins forces with Milver who Starting out as a live drum and bass MC and rapper of some 12 years and has been producing his own tracks in the last 3.

Sublingual

Sublingual is a local South West Hip Hop artist from Gloucester. His lyrics focus mainly on good vibes and positive energy whilst drawing on real life experiences with a Boom Bap feel to flow and delivery, accompanied by DJ Blatant-Lee sly, who brings a comprehensive skill set in mixing, scratching & everything in between, you can be sure to experience an energy filled set full of clever lyricism and dope beats!

Robin Hood-Shaw

Robin Hood Shaw is a stand up poet/rapper that lives in Cheltenham. He was the only comedy rapper in the whole of Gloucestershire until Kanye West Country came along from Tewkesbury. Despite that Robin is a poetry slam champion & the father to 2 beautiful cats. He has also become a regular fixture at various festivals throughout the years, he’s a regular on the South West Circuit & beyond. If you miss him, you miss out.

Lagan Purdy

Reluctant to write about himself in the third person, Lagan spent far too long on this opening line, much to the dismay of his boss as he was technically at working.
Having started his writing life as an MC, an offer of free beer took him to a spoken word event that turned his world on its head. Since that fateful night he has gone on to perform all over the UK, both as a solo artist and organiser of Verbal Remedies, featuring at 5 Boomtown Fair's, Isle of Wight Festival, Alchemy, MondoMix, Landed Festival, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, as well as in Leeds, Bristol, Brighton, Cambridge, and Bournemouth. Using his tongue as an intricately articulate equivalent kind of instrument, energy, flow and tempo are at the centre of his writing ethos. Expect tongue twisting rhymes and content covering conception, depression, tea and hayfever
