DnB Kitchen presents: Spectrasoul + SP:MC

Welcome to DnB Kitchen's second event. After the first installment you should know exactly what to expect! Our ethos is to bring relevant artists to Exeter, covering the whole spectrum of Drum and Bass. We will continue to present you with artists that we feel are pushing boundaries with their production. With that said, we are happy to announce that Spectrasoul will be headlining our second event.Since their emergence in 2006, SpectraSoul have carved a truly unique position, not only in Drum & Bass, but electronic music as a whole. Having released music on only the very finest and most respected labels in the scene, from Goldie's legendary Metalheadz, to dBridge's boundary breaking Exit Records, and Kasra's ever progressive Critical Music, they went on to become vital members of Friction's irrepressible Shogun Audio imprint.

Beautifully deep and etched with groove yet powerful enough to move any dancefloor, SpectraSoul's stunning musical productions are a far cry from the soulless, synthetic rave fodder so many unfortunately associate with Drum & Bass today.

Gracing clubs and festivals the world over, the global recognition of SpectraSoul's seductive production skills and achingly smooth mixing abilities has earned them their stripes as a truly treasured gem on the Drum & Bass and Electronica circuit.

Performing alongside Spectrasoul we have the most respected MC in the scene, SP:MC!

Breaking through into the world of Drum & Bass as an MC is no small task, yet SP:MC has managed to establish himself as one of the busiest & most innovative on the circuit. Often requested by DJs including Friction, dBridge, S.P.Y, Youngsta, Jubei and Goldie, his distinctive yet versatile style has also made him a favourite with DJs and clubbers alike. This multi-talented individual has also proved to be a distinguished producer in his own right with releases on Tempa, Shogun and Exit (as Code 3, with Jubei & Dakuan). Winner of the 'Best MC' category at the DnB Arena Awards, SP:MC is without doubt at the top of his chosen profession.

SP:MC’s first break came after MC GQ heard one of his early mixtapes with DJ Jubei and made them residents at his own monthly Emcee Sessions event at Dingwalls in Camden. Following that and as the MC of choice for Friction and dBridge he established close ties with Shogun Audio and Exit Records/Autonomic respectively. Throughout his career he has also represented for labels as diverse as Renegade Hardware, Commercial Suicide, Hospital, Prototype, Bassbin, Good Looking, Metalheadz, Valve, Quarantine, Digital Soundboy, Symmetry, Soul:R, Innerground, DNAudio, Tempa, System & 3024.

Versatility & quality control are a guarantee when SP’s in the building. He cites MC GQ, Dynamite & Conrad as early influences. After multiple nominations at awards ceremonies throughout the early years of his career, including the Knowledge awards as well as BBC 1xtra and DNB Arena awards, SP:MC finally won the well deserved ‘best MC’ award at the DNB Arena awards in 2011.
