An Audience with WARIS HUSSEIN - Doctor Who's very first director

Your chance to meet true TV, film and Doctor Who royalty; award winning director WARIS HUSSEIN.

Join us for the latest in our series of detailed audience with events as we are delighted to welcome celebrated director WARIS HUSSEIN to Liverpool's Videodyssey - a TV studio, events space, retro arcade and more!

Waris will be joining Matt Charlton in conversation as we delve into Waris' rich and diverse career which has spanned film, television and music working with some of the biggest names in the process. Burton, Taylor and more.  He's won an Emmy, BAFTAS and more in a glittering career which spans five decades and continues to this day.

Closer to home, Waris was of course the director of the initial first four episodes of Doctor Who in 1963. AN UNEARTHLY CHILD is perhaps the most important piece of British television ever made, and Waris was there at the very beginning, working alongside legends Verity Lambert and Sydney Newman to create the legend that endures to this day 56 years on.

Our event begins at 11am with an exclusive screening of LOVE LETTERS ON BLUE PAPER, a rare Play for Today from 1976 starring Patrick Troughton and, as Waris tells us, the best piece of TV he ever made.  With a recommendation like that, we had to ask our colleagues at the BFI to arrange a screening and we are hugely greatful for their help.  We're planning a very special live commentary on AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME which will allow you to either enjoy the piece as transmitted or watch alongside Waris and text your questions to him.  Following this, Waris will be joined by Matt Charlton in the chair for our trademark detailed chat.  

There will be a chance to meet Waris after and your ticket includes a single autograph as usual.  Additional autographs will be available to purchase on the day.
