Tuesday Night Music Club

Tuesday Night Music Club is a new regular event at Folkestone’s Eleto Jazz Rooms, showcasing original songwriting from some of the area’s finest musicians and performers. Each date will feature two or three acts – solo, duo or bands – performing a single set. It’s promoted by Simon Lethem’s private Bouverie Studios, but in addition to the artists associated with Simon’s studio and the BS Collective (including Rachel Gerrard, Ben Millbery, Nicola Palmer and Simon himself), it is open to any act working locally and writing quality original material. If that sounds like you, get in touch with simon@simonlethem.com because he’d be delighted to hear from you. Check out Facebook @bouveriestudios or @SimonLethemRachelGerrard to keep up to date.

Rachel Gerrard is a professional singer, songwriter, composer and vocal coach living and working in Folkestone. She specialises in funk, soul, electronica and rare groove, but sings a wide range of other genres including jazz, classical, musical theatre and rock. As well as writing for her own projects, Rachel has been working closely with songwriter Simon Lethem, leading up to the release of their album “Lessons in Life” in December 2018. Rachel also fronts their soul-funk originals band The BS Collective and performs solo and with Simon as a duo. She is a well known and highly respected vocal coach, working out of Folkestone’s Creative Quarter. www.rachelgerrard.co.uk and www.customvocalcoaching.com for more information.

Simon Lethem is a songwriter, guitarist / keyboard player and owner of the private Bouverie Studios in Folkestone. He is a full time musician these days, dividing his time between his own projects and working with other fine local talents. Lots of things currently in progress including his own second album with Rachel, a sampler / compilation featuring some of the Bouverie Studios stable of singers and songwriters, and writing / co-writing with other artists. Getting out to play live is a priority in 2019, whether it’s with the full soul-funk onslaught of the BS Collective, or soulful stripped back arrangements as a solo, duo or band performance.

On the 25th June Simon and Rachel will be performing stripped back versions of songs from the album “lessons in Life” plus lots of new material destined for their second release, and for Rachel’s debut solo EP, both scheduled for later 2019.

Sidney Spong is a 17 year old multi-instrumentalist and writer with a rapidly growing reputation as a songwriter and performer. His music sits somewhere in between alternate and folk and has been likened to Radiohead and Jacob Collier, calling upon both poetry and his lyrical storytelling style to create captivating performances. Don’t miss it!

Tickets are £8 and £10 on the door.
