David Rovics: Live at The Folklore Rooms

Terrace cred. presents:

'There's something about music that makes people feel optimistic...'

Based in Portland, Oregon, David Rovics would likely simply refer to himself as 'a songwriter', nut that doesn't encompass the breadth of his activity as a writer, blogger, historian, activist, and performer.  It may show a self-effacing attitude, but there's a passionate desire for social justice, for raising awareness, for getting people to unite and to change things.
Isn't that what a 'protest singer' does? Well, maybe call David Rovics a protest singer then, for his songs do just that.

Born in New York, a secular Jew raised in conservative Connecticut, some college and plenty of blue collar work experience (he's a member of the Industrial Workers of the World, 'The Wobblies') before fulltime busking in Boston and onwards to global touring.

David has dozens of recordings over thirty odd years, some independently released, others on commercial labels, but makes free distribution available, including his sheet music.

Acclaimed in the press (music and political) for the his live performances, for the quality of his writing and for his outspokenness, David's also been criticised (by both the right and the left) for being outspoken and erudite about corporate interests (including iTunes) anti-globalisation, on American politics and policies and his Anti-Zionist views.

After being hunkered down like most of the globe, David's back out, able to tour and has pieced together dates across Europe. He is wanting to come and play Brighton and comes highly recommended by Attila The Stockbroker.

terrace cred. is very pleased to be able to make this happen at an exciting new little venue, right by The Clock Tower, that should suit us well.

Don't miss a chance to see David Rovics in a small club setting. We want us all to be safe, please be respectful of others and any Covid regulations that may need to be in place.
Strictly limited number of Earlybird tkts £8,

£10 advance (may be some at the door).
