19-20 February 2022 Blencathra, and Derwent Water, Lake district.
Starting the weekend off with a circular walk of Derwent Water, the Queen of the lakes. You'll pass through ancient woodland and have views to die for in all directions. This is a 10 mile walk and the gradient remains flat throughout, leaving your legs ready for the climb on Sunday. Duration around 4 hours.
Then it's on to Blencathra the following day. A much loved mountain with more ascents described by Wainwright than any other. Indeed, he described Halls Fell Ridge as 'positively the finest way to any mountain-top in the district.' We will select the route up that best matches the weather conditions at the time. Duration 5-6 hours.
It is an open event and there will obviously be a mix of fitness levels so we will be moving at a casual pace with regular breaks that is suitable for everybody.
