Skydaddy is the sonic culmination of the life and times of Rachid Fakhre.
Having spent the last few years writing and producing as one half of the acclaimed musical duo Spang Sisters, he now ventures out on his own solo project, which infuses cello, violin, flute, piano and intricate vocal harmonies to embellish the delicately considered chamber-folk-rock songs he writes.
Influences are clearly drawn from a wide range, with some pieces echoing the languid guitar work of Pancho Benavides and Ry Cooder; others, such as his forthcoming single ‘That Morning’, are booming ballads of love, joy, despair, death. Here is the voice of someone who has invariably been face to face with ego-death and sure enough, will rise from its ashes, gleaning what he can to construct the next.
With Spang Sisters, Skydaddy headed tours around the UK and Europe, supporting artists such as Katy J Pearson and Juan Wauters; with his own band he has already garnered the attention of the scene, selling out his first show at The Windmill.
He and the band will be supporting fellow rockers Black Country, New Road on their forthcoming UK tour which will tie in to a wider UK headline tour. ‘That Morning’ will be out in late April and will be the first single from his debut E.P.
