Described as angular, emotional, or sometimes just ‘sad yelling’, “SCATTERCHILD” is an alternative rock project spearheaded by Jay Plent. As aggressively memorable as their angular logo suggests, their music is rife with detail, frenetic beats, soaring vocals and textured arrangements akin to the likes of Bowie, with the energy of The Strokes and the oddball arrangements of Everything Everything.
This set the blueprint for their releases; always ambitious, always making music highly visual and enticing. Songs like ‘Staring Me Down’ for example, bring together Plent’s powerful voice and dexterous guitar playing on a track that, whilst punchy and exciting, is written about feeling overwhelmed in a new city. Having grown up in the countryside of Essex, and made a home in Manchester afterwards, it’s a contrast in belonging that Plent often embraces when writing.
Theatrics form a part of their live show too. Whether it’s bespoke costuming, projections, or using a rotary-phone as an active microphone, SCATTERCHILD make sure you leave with a vivid memory of your time spent together.
GETNER (a Derryism for hungover, not well), are a Manchester-based four piece with Irish roots, defying musical boundaries with a genre-bending sound that merges rock with the mystique of Irish storytelling. The band's unique chemistry arises from a clash of individual tastes, resulting in a cohesive and unforgettable rock and roll experience. Fuelled by Manchester's rich musical history, GETNER's live performances exude raw energy, captivating audiences with a dynamic blend of influences. Join GETNER on their musical journey, where Irish soul meets the unpredictability of rock, creating a sound that is both powerful and distinctive.
BETS is a Manchester based singer songwriter, born in Brighton. With influences from Joni Mitchell and Lizzy McAlpine, her sad girl songs usually evoke tears.
With her first Single “Hungry” on the way, BETS mixes both a orchestrated vibe with her modern lyrics to create her unique voice and sound.
