Bare Safe & Tropical Tea Party presents: KOG & the Zongo Brigade

It's Bare Safe's 8th Birthday! To celebrate we are teaming up with our friends at Tropical Tea Party to transform the Exeter Phoenix into a tropical paradise! We're going all out on decor to bring the festival vibes early this year, along with two incredible bands K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade and Hippo Sound System, and a whole host of talented Dj's who'll have you dancing all night like you're back at Wonder Fields, Shambala or Boomtown. Here's what we have in store for you...

~ K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade ~

Under the leadership of the outrageously talented whirlwind of energy that is Kweku Sackey aka Ghanaian force of nature KOG, the 8-piece Zongo brigade deliver infectious, high-energy West African grooves, drawing on afrobeat, soul, funk, rock and reggae to create a totally original sound that leaves every crowd dripping with sweat and begging for more.

With KOG’s signature mix of songs, raps, operatic vocal effects and stage antics that would make Howling Wolf blush, backed up by hard-hitting patois raps from Jamaican Franz Von Song, and a dedicated band of serious musical badmen , the band have played some huge stages including Glastonbury West Holts, Reading and Leeds Festival, and clubs and venues across Europe.

~ Hippo Sound System ~

Hippo Sound System is a hybrid electronic/live band lead by Bristol's notorious ‘Samba Junglist’ DJ Hiphoppapotamus, who’s known for his infectiously fun fusions of latin, jazz, reggae and world music flavours with Drum & Bass and Jungle.

Using his own custom productions as well as triggering recorded sounds of the natural world, the hippo designs a continuous, hi-octane global soundscape which is then accompanied by maestros of the saxophone (Dave Sanders of Snazzback), percussion (Mook) and vocals (Feline). During their first summer they played packed out major stages at Boomtown and Shambala Festival, and also brought the set to Shindig, Beatherder, Bath Carnivaland Goulash Disko!
