Bangers residents:
DJ KAYA
Over the past decade and a half he has DJed alongside legends such as Norman Jay, Aitch Bee (SoulIISoul) and Carl Barat (Libertines). His productions with renowned vocalists such as Kathy Brown, Michelle Weeks, Linda Muriel (Brand New Heavies) and rapper DMX, have
received support from Tony Humphries, Brandon Block and DJs from Hed Kandi, Cream and MoS.
DJ SHORTY
With his own show on www.ForceFM.net and 106.5FM, his roots are in hiphop but he plays and listens to everything as long as it's got a phat beat - from D&B to house and breaks.
WAX HANDS
In the past year alone this DJ/AV/producer duo have performed alongside acts such as Yoda, Beardyman, Cyantific, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts and Eddy Temple Morris.
Live Bands:
Kites
Kites is a band composed of two classically-trained musicians (Jack & Jasper), a scholar of electronics (Richard), and a foppish pop-poet with a penchant for silk (Matthew), who are releasing their single Brother on 28th November 2011.
In a recent interview, the Kites front man Matthew, who brings an air of Wildean decadence to the band, described their sound as: Melodramatic provocation for discontented dreamers.
Kites began writing tightly constructed tracks in 2010 that successfully blended synthetic textures with more organic instrumentation, creating a sound that was bold, affecting and ultimately irresistible. Their intensely physical and energetic stage shows have won them fans internationally and garnered comparisons to New Order, Patrick Wolf and Talking Heads from the mainstream music press. They have supported everyone from Jarvis Cocker to Kevin Rowland, Gary Numan to The Mystery Jets.
"Intensely physical and energetic live performances coupled with tightly constructed tracks have won the band an adoring fan base, a wave of industry attention... hailed as the hottest unsigned band in the UK."
Musicweek
"I'm tipping Kites - think The Fall and New Order but a lot younger. I caught them the other night and they rocked. They're on tour at the moment so catch them if you can!"
The Sunday Mirror
V.O.S
V.O.S are the brainchild of vocalist Allan Robinson and producer/percussionist David Bryceland. Live, they play as a 9 piece and their unusual mix of latin, soul, funk and experimental sounds means there is never a moment of stylistic complacency or a chance to stand still.
V.O.S have recently received airplay on the Radio6 NL Wicked Jazz Sounds show and KX Radio Holland. As well as performing at the Glastonbury Festival, Oxjam Festival and The Dublin Castle expect to see them smash it again with upcoming shows at Kensington Roof Gardens and 93 Feet East.
Moon Visionaries
"Moon Visionaries describe themselves as writing, indie-pop-walking-down-the-street-rock kind of songs. This kind of sans-bullshit attitude is precisely what makes us smile about them. It's the kind of unashamed, feel-good, glossy groove-pop that scores of 'defiantly lo-fi' bands probably wish they could muster, rather than having to hide their lack of choruses in lathering fuzz." Jaimie Hodgson / NME
